Undergraduate Degrees

All music students, irrespective of music major, are required to fulfill a minimum of eight semesters each of MUS 001 Recital Attendance, Major Ensemble, and Private Instruction. In addition, MUS 002 Introduction to the Study of Music is required of all incoming Freshman students in the first semester of study.

Minimum Proficiency: Minimum proficiency in music fundamentals and ear training must be demonstrated as assessed by the Theory Placement Exam, or the successful completion of MUS 180 Musicianship, to enter MUS 181/182.

1 credit hour = 30 minutes of instruction per week

Bachelor of Arts: Music

The Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in music is designed for the study of music within a liberal arts curriculum. It emphasizes broad coverage of the field of music, and is appropriate for undergraduates who wish to major in music as a part of a liberal arts program irrespective of specific career aspirations.
